Presets and saved designs

Save a design as a preset in the editor, attach it to a product or share it as a link.

A preset is a saved set of answers. Use presets to open the builder on a popular build instead of the defaults, or to sell ready-made designs that buyers can still change. The price is always worked out from the buyer's final choices.

Make a preset

  1. Open the customizer in the editor.
  2. Build the design in the preview, exactly as a buyer would.
  3. Press Save as preset and give it a name.

Presets are listed on the customizer's Presets page, where you can rename or delete them. Presets of a customizer that isn't published don't show on the store yet.

Use a preset

  • Attach it to a product. On the Presets page, attach the preset to a Shopify product. That product page opens the builder with the preset's answers already chosen. This is how you sell ready-made builds as their own products, each with its own page and photos, all running the same customizer.
  • Share a link. Add ?preset=ID to any product link that shows this builder, for example in a collection banner or an email.
  • Set it on the block. In the theme editor, Starting preset ID on the Moddify Studio block makes every visit to that page start from the preset.

If a preset contains an answer that is now hidden or deleted, the builder drops it and uses the default for that question.

Saved designs

Every design added to the cart is saved. Adding ?design=ID to the product link opens the builder with that design. A design link beats a preset link, and a preset link beats the block setting.

Deleting a preset

Deleting a preset that is attached to a product takes it off that product, and that product page stops showing the builder. Links with that preset open the builder with its normal defaults.
