What is new in Moddify Studio

Releases, newest first. Features marked "coming soon" elsewhere on this site move here when they ship.

  1. Plans, setup checklist and store tools

    • Free, Growth, Pro and Plus plans with a 14-day trial on paid plans. Free shows a "Powered by Moddify Studio" link.
    • Setup checklist on the dashboard that ticks itself off: customizer created, product linked, published, block in the theme, first order.
    • Duplicate, archive and restore customizers, with status badges on the list.
    • Presets: "Save as preset" in the editor preview, then attach the preset to a product or share it as a link.
    • Translation view in the editor with a missing count and CSV import and export. Builder text built in for English, Spanish, German and French, with per-store overrides.
    • Sold-out answers from Shopify variant stock, shown disabled or hidden.
    • Rule price changes now show on the answer itself, not only in the total.

  2. Buyer uploads, design images and production sheets

    • Image upload questions (JPEG, PNG, WebP) with a minimum size, and print areas per view for text and pictures.
    • Design images rendered on our server for every view plus a thumbnail, stacked exactly like the preview.
    • Orders page with filters by customizer, answer, date and order name, and CSV export.
    • Printable production sheets for one order or a batch.
    • Original uploads to download, and optional upload review with the cm-upload-pending tag.

  3. Webhooks, a new REST API and analytics

    • Signed webhooks for design.ordered and order.cancelled, with retries for up to 24 hours and a delivery log.
    • REST API with designs, orders and customizers in one versioned format, money in cents and design image URLs.
    • Analytics: funnel from started to ordered, step reach, top answers and revenue from custom items.
    • Builder events in Shopify customer events for your own pixels.

  4. Help center and this website

    • Public website with feature pages, pricing, an install guide and a live demo of the builder.
    • Help center with setup guides for customizers, rules, pricing, orders, the REST API and theme styling.

  5. Rebuild customizers from order history

    • Draft customizers can be rebuilt from an existing order history: steps, questions, answers, production codes and price deltas.
    • The import writes a report that re-prices past orders and lists answers that were never ordered, so you know what to finish by hand.

  6. Visual editor and asset library

    • Full-screen editor in Shopify Admin with a step tree, the live storefront builder as preview, and a properties panel.
    • Drag-and-drop reordering, a rules panel, and JSON export and import.
    • Bulk layer upload that matches files named view__question__answer to the right answer.
    • Asset library that converts uploads to WebP, tracks where each image is used and blocks deleting images that are still in use.
    • Hidden answers: keep an answer in the customizer without offering it to buyers.

  7. First build

    • Shared rule and price engine in JavaScript and PHP, tested against the same fixtures.
    • Storefront builder as a theme app block and app embed, mobile-first, with layered preview, steps, live price and presets.
    • Cart Transform function: one line at the exact price on Shopify Plus, a bundle of parts on other plans.
    • Order processing with design linking, price re-check, order rules and the moddify.designs metafield.
    • REST API for orders, designs and published customizers with per-shop tokens.
